Andhra Pradesh is the origin of this transparent leather painting technique. The primary materials used include sheepskin and goat hide, while the colours come from vegetable dyes. The painted object dries in the sun for two to three days. Hindu epics like the Ramayana and Mahabharata inspire artists to produce these exquisite products in a variety of forms, including paintings, lamp shades, and puppets as a colourful and distinctive work of art to brighten up a wall or a corner. Most lamp shades are designed using a mould and are based on mythological characters.
