Started by Kalpana Das, a textile designer belonging to an artisan family, this artisan-based organisation from West Bengal transforms the ordinary 'gamcha' (Bengal traditional hand towel) into contemporary products. Aiming to add colour to the lives of women artisans through empowerment, respect and freedom, Rangila Dhaga or ‘colourful threads’, portrays the creativity and vibrancy of the team - by women for women. 

The multi-hued checks and striped fabric is vibrant and is handcrafted into jewellery, garments, fashion accessories, paintings and home décor .

“We don’t use any automatic machine, our  hands are our tools and knotting and stitching are our  skills”, she says.
