Moonj is basically an outer layer of 'Sarpat' grass. The Moonj basketry-making process is time consuming and basically done by the women. The traditional coiling technique is used to create the traditional and contemporary products. The process starts by drying the grass. Both the Moonj and Kaasa grass are dried under the sun for 2 days. Dried Moonj grass is made into small knots which are called 'Balla' locally. This Balla is soaked in cold water for some time before coiling to ensure flexibility. The grass Kaasa is used as inside stuffing, where in Moonj is used to wrap around Kaasa grass to make coils. The formed coil is winded in a series to make the base of the basket. Once the base is formed, the walls of the basket are made using the same technique. These coils are stitched together to make the basket strong. The motif patterns are created by using colored grass. The handles of the basket are made and attached by stitching with the grass. The products are very simple, attractive and eco-friendly. The range of products includes Tipara-vanity case which is used to store rotis, Goli-round baskets and containers of different sizes. Recent innovative products include ear rings, fruit baskets and hand purses. Among all products Tipara-Kadai is the traditional one.

Wooden toy-making is a traditional craft in the Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh. Most wooden toys are made of solid wood so it's rather hard to fully damage them besides dents and scratches.Wooden toys never go out of style. They're more durable (yielding less waste than their plastic counterparts), biodegradable and may even be made with sustainable wood. Good quality, eco-friendly wooden toys also don't contain PVC or similar chemicals used in plastic toys. These wooden toys were lacquered and colored in turmeric yellow, amber red, green, indigo blue, black and orange. Designs are created with the natural veins of the wood. These toys are made without any joints, and are attractive and safe playthings for children. This craft plays a pivotal role in the lives of the artisans, since when a child is born a new lathe is added to the family possessions. In fact, when a marriage is being fixed the boy’s family makes sure that the bride-to-be is familiar with the lathe. Sets of dolls, birds, animals, musicians, candle holders, trays and photo frames etc.
