The Needle was started by Hina Faruqui in 1993 at Khairabad, Sitapur. The Needle does different types of hand and machine embroidery and stitching. Hina Faruqui is an inspiration to many women, at her age she is still productive and innovative in her field. She started her organization with 2 artisans and now she has 15 to 16 artisans working with her.
The Needle makes designs and does hand embroidery on the basis of the texture and the design of the fabric. Hand Embroidery includes traditional and unique embroidery likes Rose work, woolen work, Kashida/Kashmiri work, Shisha/Mirrorwork, Tukri Work, Zari work, Afgani work, Applique work, Chikankari, Gota pati and many other self innovated embroidery all done by skilled artisans. Zari, gota ,frame,needle, woolen thread,nylon thread,cotton thread and mirror are raw materials. Machine-embroidery is more like a manually operated machine to create unique designs on the fabric. The Needle does fabric stitching of all kinds of the garments. She personally manages all her work and she also teaches them by providing training to the new artisans which includes mainly women artisan from the rural area.
