It’s said that a quilter isa crazy person who chops up perfectly good fabric into small bits and then puts it back together to create extremely beautiful pieces with artistic and geometrical. It is this characteristics of quilting that caught Uzma’s eye and she set her heart on learning this beautiful craft.
Uzma that she is specially-abled (unable to hear), and this developed her attraction towards things that are visually appealing. Uzma has a keen eye that looks for colour and print combinations for applique patterns. Her love for finesse and utility imbibed in all her products makes her work stand out.
QUILTING is the term given to the process of joining minimun three layers of fabric together. This can be done manually, stitching by hand using a needle and thread, or can be done mechanically with the help of a sewing machine. It can be considered one of the first examples of upcycling, as it has historically made extensive use of remnants and offcuts for the creation of new products. A wide variety of textile products are traditionally associated with quilting. This includes bed covers, soft home furnishings, garments and costume, wall hangings, artistic objects and cultural artefacts.
