Organic foods have gained popularity because people have become more aware of their benefits. Abbas Dena has started organic food culture and also run’s a Vintage Village Homestay with his parents, two brothers and two sisters on their farm in Sitapur. He joined his father in the enterprise after finishing his MBA in Agribusiness in 2017. They turned their organic home production of jaggery, honey and fruits and vegetables into a commercial enterprise after reckoning the demand for organic farm produce in the urban market. Alongside they have developed their place into a rural Homestay to introduce urban people to rural experience with modern comforts among green fields and orchards. The orchards are of lemon, amla (Indian gooseberry) and Bael (wood apple). All three fruits have enormous health benefits and even provide therapeutic benefits through their foliage.

Currently, their main product is flavored jaggery which is produced from sugarcane without the use of chemical agents in the molasses cleaning process. It has different flavors of jaggery with sesame (til), carom seeds (ajwain) and ginger powder (sonth). The second product is locally produced is raw honey from the trees in their orchards.These products are marketed through the Farmer’s market held in Lucknow and nearby areas through some organic product stores in Lucknow and on online platforms and personal contacts. In future they plan to expand the demand for their genuine products through social media. Abbas and his 2 sisters are involved in developing the social media outreach and also help in the management of the Homestay with their mother. He is very confident that their family enterprise will grow as there is a critical niche for home produced products and personalized services now.
