Jolaa is a unit to make footwear started in 2017 by Shubendu, who was interested in re-shaping shoes to make them more attractive by painting the upper part of the shoe with colorful designs. He thought that if T-shirts could be personalized, why not shoes. He got together a group of 12 artist friends to paint the uppers of shoes and started marketing them through the internet.

This enterprise was more engaging and creative for him, so he decided to quit his bank job and do this full time. His team turns out designs on about 4000-4500 pairs of footwear a month. The demand for footwear increased due to online purchases during the time of pandemic. He feels his product is special as the footwear is handmade and hand painted, from a range of 140-150 designs and special designs for buyers on their request.
