Kartavya Karma is a not-for-profit women’s organisation and resource centre working for the empowerment of women and girls established in 2014 to provide livelihood with dignity for resource-poor women living in the hills of Uttarakhand. Their aim is to level the employment field for disadvantaged women by providing bold livelihoods options that enhance the economic status, dignity, and decision-making capacity of women within their families. ​ 

​As the hill communities they work with were not dependent on agriculture, handicraft was chosen to be introduced to them. Kartavya Karma taught handcrafted eco-friendly fabric jewellery handmade bags- Ram Jhole, and cushion cover-making skills to the women. They also make hand knitted and agro products.
