Sindhe Mahesh is a master craftsman of traditional leather lamps and puppetry craft. Kalamkari Leather puppets and Lamp shades are the hallmark of Andhra Pradesh art and crafts. This form of craft is inextricably linked to the state’s traditional folk and cultural expression. Sindhe Mahesh does Kalamkari on the leather to give it an unique look. Leather workshops has 70 artisans working on this craftunder Sindhe Mahesh. They mainly decorate their products by drawing floral patterns and mythological characters or stories on the products. Hindu epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata inspire artisans to create lampshades and puppetry in attractive shapes and sizes.

Kalamkari Leather lamps and Puppetry are an ancient folk art of Andhra Pradesh, India. The process of this art is done traditionally using naturally available material, and natural dye colors as well as iron frames for lamp stands. Kalamkari is the art of using a pen to draw beautiful designs with natural dyes on leather. This professional art is being made by artists using traditional tools with skilled craftsmanship, by designing the pictures and designs on leather and then dying with beautiful colors. 

Lamp Shades are also made by the same artisans in colorful designs and patterns.The raw materials used are Goat hide and sheepskin, waterproof colors, paint-brush and mold is used for lamp shades. Lampshades are created using a mold and most of them are based on mythological figures. The colors which are derived from vegetable dyes, like red, green, white, yellow, browns and orange are popular. Creating small holes inside the decorative patterns enhances the attraction of the lampshade, which is done using a pogaru (chisel). After coloring, the lampshade is dried in the Sunlight for two to three days.
