Rajib Saha is a weaver from Phulia. With his wife and team of over 80 weavers he has an enterprise producing Jamdani and Tangail saris, stoles and dupattas. He learnt weaving from his father and mother at an early age. However, his enterprise grew after he married and came into contact with his father in law who was a master craftperson. He was the one who guided him and introduced him to the finer nuances of weaving techniques and evolving designs. He is greatlly indebted to him for guiding him and launching him. Now he and his wife do the designing, which they evolve from time to time, keeping in mind the demands from and suggestions of clients. Now he has a team of weavers with whom he has a production centre. This started from scratch - with just 2 looms. Now there are over 80 looms in production. Recently the production was affected due to the pandemic as also sale opportunities took a hit. Rajib says he reaches out to clients through pan Inida exhibitions where he sells his products - Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Puri etc. He got a lot of Exposure through Dastakar and that is how he was contacted by Sanatkada. He has been coming to Lucknow for the past 4-5 years and appreciates the efficient organisation of the MSLF. He says he would like to return should the festival be organised live next year.
